Madonna – Edvard Munch

A different Madonna Munch

Edvard Munch is said to have had a problematic view and relation to women. Most generally, fear and distrust marked Munch’s attitude to women, perceiving their role in life to “seduce, entice and deceive”. But I find this painting very beautiful and different from how women are reproduced in some of his other paintings, where they seem to suck out  life or completely devour the man.

Madonna can be found in the Munch museum, Oslo
