Temppeliaukio Church, Helsinki, Finland

This church from 1969 was designed by architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. The interior was excavated and built directly out of solid rock. It’s basked in natural light which enters through the skylight surrounding the central copper dome. The walls are rough, virtually unworked rock surfaces. The acoustic is excellent, and it’s frequently used as a venue for concerts.
